Our Community Involment.
A Harvest of Hope
The crisp autumn air hung heavy with the promise of Thanksgiving. In the heart of Sacramento, at the Capital Harvest Church, a bustling scene unfolded. Volunteers, young and old, scurried about, their faces alight with anticipation. The annual turkey drive was in full swing, a testament to the community’s generosity and spirit of giving.
On November 2024, the drive had surpassed all expectations. Over 90 boxes, each filled with the traditional Thanksgiving feast—turkey, cranberry sauce, green beans, stuffing, and potatoes—were ready to be distributed. The anticipation was palpable as families and individuals, many struggling to make ends meet, lined up outside the church doors.
Among the recipients was Maria, a single mother of two. Her eyes filled with tears as she received her box. “I didn’t know how we were going to have a Thanksgiving dinner,” she confessed, her voice trembling with emotion. “This means so much to us.”
The turkey drive was more than just a food distribution; it was a chance for the community to come together and share in the spirit of Thanksgiving. Volunteers, many of whom were bilingual, took the time to chat with the recipients, offering words of encouragement and hope.
For the members of Capital Harvest Church, the turkey drive was an opportunity to live out their faith in a tangible way. “We believe that we are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus,” said Pastor David. “This drive is our way of showing God’s love to our community.”
As the day wore on, the line of recipients grew shorter. The church parking lot was filled with the sound of laughter and gratitude. The turkey drive had been a resounding success, a testament to the power of community and the generosity of the human spirit.
And so, as the sun began its descent, casting long shadows across the church grounds, the volunteers gathered together for a moment of reflection. They had not only provided food for the hungry but had also planted seeds of hope and compassion in the hearts of those they had served.
Be part of something special! Join us for our Turkey Drive and help provide a festive Thanksgiving meal to those in our community.
